Fire Painting: Artist Uses Zippo Lighter Flame to Create Art

Canadian artist Steven Spazuk, known as the Fire Artist, creates original works of art using
the "fumage" technique, which rejects traditional tools such as brushes in favor of painting with fire.
He paints on paper with the flame of a Zippo lighter and then retouches his designs using patterns with natural
with bird feathers and blades. He has been working on this technique for more than 14 years, the beginning of his inspiration dates back to
when he was a student at the College of Arts.

"Flame is something that really inspires my art; once I found my way of working with fire, I knew
I thought it would become my voice and that I should pursue this craft. The Zippo lighter was always
part of the tools I used and I also like how it can become a work of art in itself," he said
Spazuk.

The Zippo lighter thus served as a canvas for his endless artistic creations, when it was created
limited edition Spazuk .
